Patients aren’t satisfied with merely regaining minimum function. “They want their goals and active lifestyles respected,” said Dr. Claire Rathjen, who owns C.O.R.E. Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, P.C. with her husband, Dr. Mark Rathjen. “They want to get back to the level of activity they had before.”

C.O.R.E. patients receive focused attention, she said.

“People don’t want to see a therapist briefly and then do exercises they can easily do at home for free. And we only use doctors of physical therapy, not assistants and techs,” Rathjen explained. “You’re with the same therapist each visit, so whoever you start with is who you end the entire process with.”

The Rathjens hired an additional physical therapist last year and considering expanding the facility, reflecting rapid growth since opening in 2015.

“We’ve tried hard to make people see that there is value in coming to us and that we respect their time, money and goals,” Rathjen said. And C.O.R.E. aims for a positive—even enjoyable—patient experience. “We take the healthcare aspect seriously,” she said. “But we have a lot of fun here.”
