Dr. Claire Lakatos-Rathjen PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS

Claire Lakatos-Rathjen is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with 8 years of experience in orthopedic and sports rehab.  Claire holds one of only 2 female board certification for sports specialist (SCS) in the state of Nebraska. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and strength coach, with 12 years of experience in the Strength and Conditioning realm. She grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, playing 3 sports in high school (track, cross country and softball) before moving on to Creighton University. At Creighton University, Claire was on the rowing team for 3 years  In 2004, Claire was named the Female Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year by Creighton University and the NSCA, and still holds several weightlifting/conditioning records at Creighton. As a Division I All-American and captain of her college rowing team, she developed a love of weight training and sports performance.

Claire paved her way to graduate school at Creighton university, earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008. Claire continues to compete and train athletes in weightlifting competitions. She  currently holds 5 state record in Nebraska for Powerlifting.  In her spare time she loves to travel, exercise, she is an avid runner and triathlete, and she has an unequivocal love of cats.  Claire is Mark’s wife and best friend! They work side by side at CORE Physical Therapy and Sports Performance PC.

Dr. Claire is a Adjunct Faculty Professor at the Creighton Medical Center starting Feb of 2017, she is a professor of special topics in athletic populations. Dry needling, research, KT taping, Sports performance are her areas of lecture.

Dr. Claire is also Dry Needling Certified by the Myopain Institute.

Claire is also fully certified to perform medical Bike fits and has been practicing them for more than 10 years.

Full slow motion Gait analysis for running is her bread and butter, no ONE person is more thorough.

Dr. Mark Rathjen, PT, DPT, CSCS

Mark Rathjen is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and holds the certification of Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Mark grew up in Lincoln Nebraska, and went on to attend the University of Nebraska  at Lincoln, In college, he was part of a club powerlifting team and competed in many local and regional events in various weight classes. In his love of performance, strength training, dietetics, kinesiology and the body, he moved on to graduate school at Des Moines University Medical Center, graduating with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2006.

For more than 20 years, Mark has been involved heavily in weightlifting, sports performance, powerlifting and exercise/training, always emphasizing injury prevention and safety. Mark also has an extensive background in martial arts.  Mark continues to live an active lifestyle with power lifting, olympic lifting, and the occasional cardio event and trail run.  In his spare time, mark enjoys traveling, trying new foods, ice cream, all forms of exercise and of course shares an un paralleled love of animals, especially his cats.  Mark is Claire’s husband, and her best friend! They work side by side at CORE Physical Therapy and Sports Performance PC.

Dr. Mark is also fully Certified in Dry Needling techniques from MyoPain Institute.

Mark is Qualified to examine full slow motion running gait analysis and correction to decrease pain and over use injuries. Slow motion analysis for weight lifting, technique, bar path, mechanics and leverage are performed when necessary.

Mark also offeres segmental weightlifting instruction for all Olympic lifting and powerlifting, mobility training for mechanics and proper muscle firing patterns, and will ensure you lift properly for YOUR frame, goals, and ability level.
